Saudi Arabia to Stop Issuing Umrah Permits After June 4

As the Hajj season approaches, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah made an important announcement regarding issuing permits for the Umrah pilgrimage.

With preparations in full swing, the ministry has set deadlines for obtaining these permits, stressing the need for timely action.

To coordinate the flow of pilgrims and ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set the last day for issuing permits to perform Umrah this season as the 15th of Dhul Qidah (which falls on 4 June).

It is important to clarify that the Umrah visa is specific to the practice of Umrah and does not grant permission for the Hajj pilgrimage. Umrah visa pilgrims must complete the ceremony and leave Saudi Arabia by the 20th of June 18th, Dhul Qadah.

To effectively control the influx of pilgrims during the Hajj period, the General Public Security Department has announced an entry ban on Meccan residents without particular Hajj entry permits. This proactive measure, which came into effect from the 25th shawal, ensures that only those with the necessary permits are allowed to enter the Holy City.

The entry ban does not apply to persons possessing a Makkah-issued mukim card (residence card) or a valid Umrah or Mecca pilgrimage permit. According to the competent authorities, These people can enter the Holy City.

To increase efficiency and convenience, the Directorate General of Passports has launched an electronic service for issuing entry permits to the Holy City.

The digital platform will target domestic workers, non-Saudi family members, workers employed in Holy City institutions, seasonal work visa holders, and contractors registered in the ‘Ajeer’ system for the pilgrimage season of 1444 AD.

With Umrah permits expiring soon, it is crucial for those planning to make the pilgrimage to act quickly and obtain permits within the allotted deadlines.
