Aung San Suu Kyi Removed From Another Prestigious Prize Due To Rohingya Crimes

Aung San Suu Kyi, the Civil Leader of Myanmar, was removed by the European Parliament from “Sakharov Prize Community” as she accepted the Rohingya crimes against the Muslim minority community.

   

The former democracy campaigner was awarded the top human rights prize by the EU assembly in 1990. A year before, she gained the Nobel Prize, however, she won’t continue to participate in the events considering laureates.

A source concerning the parliament stated that the awarded prize for the work of Suu Kyi was decided before 1990, hence cannot be called off, however, MEPs maintained this exclusion as the strongest sanction. 

The group leaders and the speakers of the parliament shared a statement that the decision was a failure concerning her act and that she agreed on the ongoing Rohingya crimes being held on the Rohingya community.

Myanmar, the Buddhist majority area, continued the discrimination against the Muslims and among which 740,000 people migrated to Bangladesh before 3 years.

The former political prisoner, Suu Kyi, fought against the military rule and now became the most powerful civilian official the “state counselor”. She was cheered as the champion of freedom, around the globe.

Yet, she is now being accused of turning blind or not even standing up against these abuses. The election campaign of Myanmar started this week including Suu Kyi’s party planning to win on their 2015 victory and protect the role as it counterweights to the current, strong military.

However, the refugees are disenfranchised and citizenship and the rights of majority of the Rohingya got stripped off irrespective of the pressure from the international admirers of Suu Kyi.

She is a pariah in the world capitals after she commuted to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to reboot the allegation of arson, mass killings, and rape in her country.
