City of Makkah Is Green After Rain

Makkah is green

Internet users worldwide have recently been shocked by a unique natural phenomenon. The reason is that the region of Saudi Arabia, known for its arid and hot desert, looks different when images captured by satellite show that the area has turned green after pouring heavy rains not long ago.

As reported by Arabia Weather on Sunday, January 7, the Terra satellite imagery issued by the American Space Agency (NASA) captures green scenery in several areas in Saudi Arabia. Green vegetation can emerge in dry regions dominated by deserts, such as the cities of Makkah, Jeddah and Medina.

It is known that over the past few days, high rainfall activity has been recorded in Saudi Arabia since December 2022. This rainfall occurs at the same speed and almost continuously for a very long period compared to previous years. As a result of the abundant rainfall, especially in the western region of Saudi Arabia, some areas have become covered with greenery unusually.

Reporting to the Twitter account @theholymosques, photos of the mountains in the city of Makkah are green and look beautiful.

In the midst of this phenomenon, many internet users claim to be frightened by the green scenery in the Saudi region, even associating it with the prophecy of the end of the world, as predicted by the Prophet Muhammad SAW thousands of years ago.

The assumptions of internet users were further strengthened by the abundant rainfall that flushed the Kingdom, causing the cities of Makkah, Jeddah and Medina to turn green, which co-occurred with the appearance of warm weather there.

It is known that before the heavy rains hit the area, there was a drought in various parts of the Kingdom, prompting the King to issue a decree instructing mosques throughout the Kingdom to hold Istiqa prayers in November.

Not long after, it rained for almost two weeks which flushed cities in Saudi Arabia, including the cities of Makkah and Medina, which usually only received 2-3 days each year. This abundant supply of rainwater makes the Two Holy Cities landscape and valley green.
