Born in 1348 AH in Al-Bada’i Governorate in the Qassim Region, Sheikh Abdullah bin Suleiman Al-Amr (رحمه الله) passed away on 4 Muharram 1448 AH — Friday, 19 June 2026 — in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

He had spent more than five decades teaching at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque), leaving behind generations of students and a legacy of Islamic scholarship.

Early Life and Education

Sheikh Abdullah grew up in a family that valued knowledge even though his parents had no formal education. He began memorising the Noble Qur’an in traditional Qur’anic schools (kuttab) before moving to Riyadh to study under leading scholars.

He enrolled at Dar al-Tawhid Institute in Taif in 1372 AH, then went on to graduate from the College of Shariah in Makkah in 1377 AH.

His Teachers

His scholarly formation drew from some of the most respected names of his era.

In Riyadh, he studied under Sheikh Muhammad bin Sinan Al-Yamani, Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Wuhaibi, Sheikh Hamad bin Ibrahim Aal Abdul Latif, and Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Ibrahim.

At Dar al-Tawhid Institute in Taif, his teachers included Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Mani’.

At the College of Shariah in Makkah, he sat with Sheikh Ali bin Muhammad Al-Hindi, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Dawood, Sheikh Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Khazim, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Sha’rawi, and Sheikh Abdulaziz Kurdi.

He also attended study circles at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) with Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid, Sheikh Suleiman bin Ubaid, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Sabil, and Sheikh Abdullah Khayyat.

Career in Education

He began teaching for the Ministry of Education in 1381 AH in Al-Bada’i. He later moved to Makkah in 1385 AH, where he taught at Abdullah bin Al-Zubair Intermediate School. He retired from the ministry in 1407 AH.

In 1410 AH, he began teaching at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque), where he would continue for more than five decades.

His lessons covered Islamic creed (Aqeedah), Tafsir, and Fiqh. His students came from across all walks of life — academics, physicians, military officers, and both men and women from different fields and backgrounds.

The Presidency of Religious Affairs at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) and Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) mourned the Sheikh’s passing and extended condolences to his family, students, and loved ones, praying that Allah grant him the highest ranks in Paradise and bestow patience upon those he left behind.

His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Two Holy Mosques, conveyed his personal condolences on behalf of himself and all Imams, Khateebs, Mu’adhdhins, teachers, and staff of the Presidency.
