MAKKAH, SAUDI ARABIA – As Ramadan 2025 approaches, Makkah is rolling out a comprehensive transportation upgrade to facilitate the movement of millions of worshipers.
The plan focuses on enhancing access to the Grand Mosque through three distinct bus routes and a new Makkah Taxi service.
Key features of the enhanced transport system include:
- Grand Mosque Bus Network: Three types of bus routes—frequent, coded, and regular—will operate around the clock, ensuring pilgrims can reach the Grand Mosque with minimal wait times.
- Makkah Taxi: A fleet of 100 taxis has been deployed across 47 locations since January 13, 2025, with plans to expand to 1,800 vehicles by year-end.
- Public Bus Routes: Twelve public bus routes connect various neighborhoods, providing a comprehensive transit system throughout Makkah.
These improvements reduce congestion and ensure that pilgrims can participate fully in Ramadan prayers and activities.
The enhanced transportation options reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for all visitors to the holy city.
