In Sapore, Kashmir, a very poor family had nothing but an egg to donate for the construction of a mosque at Malpora village.

The poor family consists of a mother and a son, who barely survive on their earned money.

Later, Kashmiris welcomed their humble donation and decided to auction the egg. The auction took place in the town of Sopore.

“We were accepting donations when a woman (mother) from a small house came to us with her head down, holding an egg, and asked me to accept it.”

The news of the egg auction traveled through every part of the village and people showed up at the auction at the mosque’s construction site.

Danish Bhat, a local Kashmiri businessman purchased the egg for INR 70,000 and put it for further auction, the egg was sold more than 60 times raising over $2,500.
