The Saudi Red Crescent inaugurated two dedicated landing pads for air ambulances inside Masjid Al-Haram yesterday.
This is designed to enable rapid medical evacuations for critical cases, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to providing high-quality and prompt healthcare to the guests of Allah during peak pilgrimage seasons.

The new air ambulance helipads facilitate the swift transfer of emergency cases to key reference hospitals in both Makkah and Jeddah. During a successful drill conducted on the eastern runway of Masjid Al-Haram, medical teams demonstrated their readiness to execute emergency evacuations according to the highest global standards.
In tandem with the air ambulance project, the Haram Emergency Hospital was also opened yesterday.
Located in the northern area of Masjid Al-Haram, opposite the King Abdullah Gate, this state-of-the-art facility is part of the third expansion project of the mosque.

Operating 24/7 during Umrah and Hajj seasons, the hospital is equipped with advanced medical technologies, including an intensive care unit, laboratory and radiology sections, an in-house pharmacy, and specialized zones for critical and respiratory emergencies, observation, and isolation for infectious diseases.
The combined efforts of the Saudi Red Crescent and the Ministry of Health demonstrate the Kingdom’s dedication to protecting its visitors and providing a seamless, secure pilgrimage experience.
