11 Muslim Astronauts Who Went In Space and Made Us Proud

Many people wonder how many Muslims have gone into space until this date. So we at The Islamic Information decides to show 11 Muslim astronauts who went high up in space and made the Muslim community feel proud of them.

1. Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud (Saudi Arabia)

Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud went in space on the 17th of June 1985, having the mission name STS-51-G. Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud is a Saudi National as well as in 1985 he became the first Muslim to go in space, along with this he also became the first Saudi national to go in space and first Arab in space as well.

2. Mohammad Faris (Syria)

Faris is one of the Muslim astronauts who went in space back on 22nd of July 1987 on a mission Mir EP-1 and became the first Syrian ever to go in space, as well as second Muslim to go in space.

3. Musa Manarov (Azerbaijan)

He is the first Muslim who spent 541 days in space, and also the first Azerbaijani national to go in space, he went on missions Mir EO-3 on 1987 and Soyuz TM-11 in 1990. Musa is also the third Muslim to go into space.

Abdul Ahad is the fourth Muslim to go in space, first afghani to go in space having the mission Mir EP-3 on the 29th of August 1988.

5. Toktar Aubakirov (Kazakhstan)

Toktar was the first Kazakh to go in space on 2nd October 1991 on a mission called Soyuz TM-13.

6. Talgat Musabayev (Kazakhstan)

Talgat Musabayev was the second Kazakh to go into space thrice. He spent 341 days in space. The first time he went was on 4th November 1994 on a mission Soyuz TM-19, the second time on 25th August 1998 on a mission Soyuz TM-17 and third time on 6th May 2001 on a mission Soyuz TM-32.

7. Salizhan Sharipov (Russia)

Salizhan spent about 201 days in space once on 20th January 1998 on an STS-89 mission. And the second time on Expedition 10 on 14th October 2004.

8. Anousheh Ansari (Iran)

Anousheh became the first Muslim woman to go in space back on 18th September 2006 on a mission Soyuz TMA-9.

9. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (Malaysia)

He is the first Malaysian astronaut to go in space, we also saw his video in which he is offering salah In space. He went on a space journey on 10th October 2007 on the Soyuz TMA-11 mission.

10. Aidyn Aimbetov (Kazakhstan)

He became the third Kazakh to go in space on 2nd September 2015 on a mission Soyuz TMA-18M.

11. Hazza Almansoori (United Arab Emirate)

He is the first Emirati to go in space, on a mission Soyuz MS-15 on 25th September 2019. He also shared pictures of Mecca from space. And a new addition to the muslim astronauts list.
