Ruling On Hanging Quranic Verses of the Holy Book On Walls

Hanging Quranic Verses? Allowed or not? when visiting Muslims, I noticed that several of them put verses from the Holy Book on the walls or photos with the names of God & prophets.

I know many Muslims assume that it’s good to do so because it’ll protect them and their house. Is there any ruling on that subject?

Praise be to God.

Hanging clothes & plaques containing ayah of the Holy book in houses, social clubs, etc involves a variety of prohibitions & reservations per Islam, like the following:

  1. In most cases, hanging Quranic verses on the wall is done for adornment & decoration, as the ayah, etc. are written in colorful brocade & calligraphy. This is a good use of the Holy book because it was revealed to read regularly & to guide individuals. The Holy book was revealed and if someone is decorating walls, however, to guide mankind.
  2. In order to reduce their feelings of guilt in spite of the fact that this practice doesn’t facilitate them in any way & Many Muslims whose observance of Islam is lacking put these photos up so that they can feel that they’re doing something religious.
  3. Several of these plaques are painted with real gold, which makes using them & hanging them good but giving that money to the poor would be better.
  4. The blessing as described in Islam comes from reciting or reading the Holy book, not from hanging it up or inserting it on shelves & three-dimensional pictures, etc. Some individuals hang up such things for “blessing”.

The Muslims should turn to the Book of God, recite it, and act in accordance with it. We ask God to create the Holy Book a light of guidance for us & a means of removing our grief and anxiety. May God bless our Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
