Many people wonder how many Muslims have gone into space until this date. So we at The Islamic Information decided to show 15 Muslim astronauts who went high up in space and made the Muslim community proud of them.

1. Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud (Saudi Arabia)
Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud entered space on June 17, 1985, with the mission name STS-51-G. Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud is a Saudi National as well. In 1985 he became the first Muslim to go in space; along with this, he also became the first Saudi national to go in space and the first Arab in space as well.
2. Mohammad Faris (Syria)
Faris is one of the Muslim astronauts who went into space on July 22, 1987, on a mission Mir EP-1 and became the first Syrian ever to go into space and the second Muslim to go into space.
3. Musa Manarov (Azerbaijan)
He is the first Muslim who spent 541 days in space and the first Azerbaijani national to go in space; he went on missions Mir EO-3 in 1987 and Soyuz TM-11 in 1990. Musa is also the third Muslim to go into space.
4. Abdul Ahad Mohmand (Afghanistan)
Abdul Ahad is the fourth Muslim to go in space, the first afghani to go in space, having the mission Mir EP-3 on August 29, 1988.
5. Toktar Aubakirov (Kazakhstan)
Toktar was the first Kazakh to go into space on October 2, 1991, on a mission called Soyuz TM-13.
6. Talgat Musabayev (Kazakhstan)
Talgat Musabayev was the second Kazakh to go into space thrice. He spent 341 days in space. The first time he went was on November 4, 1994, on a mission Soyuz TM-19, the second time on August 25, 1998, on a mission Soyuz TM-17 and the third time on May 6, 2001, on a mission Soyuz TM-32.
7. Salizhan Sharipov (Russia)
Salizhan spent about 201 days in space once on January 20, 1998, on an STS-89 mission. And the second time on Expedition 10 was on October 14, 2004.
8. Anousheh Ansari (Iran)
Anousheh became the first Muslim woman to enter space on September 18, 2006, on a mission Soyuz TMA-9.
9. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (Malaysia)
He is the first Malaysian astronaut to go into space, and we also saw his video in which he is offering salah In space. He went on a space journey on October 10, 2007, on the Soyuz TMA-11 mission.
10. Aidyn Aimbetov (Kazakhstan)
He became the third Kazakh to go into space on September 2, 2015, on a mission Soyuz TMA-18M.
11. Hazza Almansoori (United Arab Emirate)
He was the first Emirati to go into space on a mission Soyuz MS-15 on September 25, 2019. He also shared pictures of Mecca from space. And a new addition to the Muslim astronauts list.
12. Sara Sabry (Egypt)
On August 4, 2022, Sara Sabry, an Egyptian-Lebanese Muslim woman, entered space for the first time. Her success is a cause for celebration among Muslims and serves as an example for females everywhere.
13. Sultan Al Neyadi (United Arab Emirates)
On April 29, 2023, Muslim Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi made history by becoming the first Arab to walk in space. He was a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft passenger that took off from Florida’s NASA Kennedy Space Center. His accomplishments are a source of pride for Muslims and an example to everyone.
14. Ali AlQarni (Saudi Arabia)
On May 20, 2023, Muslim Saudi astronaut Ali AlQarni made history by becoming the first Saudi to travel to the International Space Station. He was a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft passenger that took off from Florida’s NASA Kennedy Space Center.
15. Rayyanah Barnawi (Saudi Arabia)
On May 21, 2023, Muslim Saudi astronaut Rayyanah Barnawi made history by becoming the first Saudi woman to travel to the International Space Station. She was a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft passenger that took off from Florida’s NASA Kennedy Space Center.
