The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that the ceremonial lifting of the Kaaba’s Kiswah will take place tonight, Tuesday, 13 May 2025, after Isha prayers.
The cloth will be raised approximately three meters, and a white protective cotton cover will be placed around the lower part of the Kaaba, symbolizing the state of Ihram.
This tradition is observed annually ahead of Hajj, serves both spiritual symbolism and practical purposes.

Practically, it helps protect the Kiswah from wear and tear due to the heavy influx of pilgrims performing tawaf (circumambulating).
The full Kiswah will be replaced, as per tradition, on the 1st of Muharram later this Hajj season.
Tonight’s ceremony will be carried out by a specialized team from the Kiswah factory and Kaaba maintenance division under the guidance of the General Presidency.
