Pope Francis Is ‘Angry’ On Quran Burning In Sweden

During an interview with UAE’s newspaper al-Ittihad on Monday, Pope Francis denied authorizing the burning of the Qur’an.

According to the pope, any book considered holy should be respected to respect its followers. “I am angry and disgusted by these actions.”

In Sweden, copies of the Quran have been burned, according to the head of the Catholic Church.

“This is unacceptable and must be condemned,” he said, adding that freedom of expression should not be used to offend others.

Several countries condemned a man who tore up and burned the Qur’an in Sweden’s capital Stockholm last week. 

Recently, the Swedish police rejected several requests for anti-Qur’an demonstrations, but courts overturned those decisions, saying they violated freedom of speech.

57 Islamic countries said Sunday that international law should be used to stop religious hatred and prevent acts of desecration of the Qur’an.
