Masjid al-Haram Imam Sheikh Yasir al-Dawsari to Visit Maldives

Sheikh Yasser Al-Dawsary’s trip will be the first by a Masjid al-Haram Imam to the Maldives in 43 years.

Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed announced that Sheikh Dr. Yasser Al-Dawsary, Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah, will visit the Maldives in the coming days.

He made the announcement at the closing ceremony of the 38th National Quran Competition. When Is the Visit Minister Shaheem said the confirmed date for the visit will be announced later. He described Al-Dawsary as an Imam loved and revered by Maldivians.

First Visit in 43 Years Shaheem noted that this will be the first visit from a Masjid al-Haram Imam to the Maldives in 43 years.

The first such visit came when Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Subayyil travelled to the Maldives for the opening of the Islamic Centre.

Past Visits from the Two Holy Mosques In 2025, Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) Imam Sheikh Dr Salah Al-Budair also visited the Maldives.
