The United Arab Emirates will pay the Hajj costs of 344 pilgrims from Ghana for the 2027 season. The support is being carried out under the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and reflects the friendship between the two countries.
Cheque Presented in Accra
A dummy cheque marking the sponsorship was presented at Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra. The UAE Ambassador to Ghana, Dr Abdulla AlMandous, and Deputy Head of Mission Khalifa Almehrzi handed it to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony was attended by Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; Yussif Issaka Jajah, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts; and Alhaji Abdul Rauf Ibrahim Tanko, Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board.
Ghana Hajj Board to Manage the Programme
The sponsorship will be carried out with the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG), which sits under the Ghana Hajj Board. For the 344 pilgrims chosen, the funding will let them make a journey to Makkah that carries deep spiritual and personal meaning for them and their families.
