As reported by local media, the prayer place for female worshipers at Masjid Al Haram, located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, will be equipped with the latest technological robots.
Equipping the women’s area with state-of-the-art robots is part of the effort to provide access to state-of-the-art technology in services rendered at Islam’s holiest site.
Saudi news portal Ajel reported that the Head of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, Abdulrahman Al Sudais, directly intervened to provide directions to introduce several guiding robots placed in the women’s prayer areas in the mosque, which can help worshipers perform rituals smoothly.
The allocated innovative machine reportedly offers several guidance services to the worshippers, including giving them access to fatwas or religious edicts issued by prominent Islamic scholars.
Al Sudais said that the use of intelligent technology was further following the successful performance of the machine that served well during this year’s Hajj season.
The General Presidency of the Two Mosques is known to have begun to increase the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence technology in the service of the Two Holy Mosques amid strict COVID-19 prevention measures.
The latest technological robots are used intensively, especially during this year’s hajj season, to access fatwas for pilgrims and help distribute the holy Zamzam water. In addition, using robots to spread Zamzam water bottles to all mosques aims to increase sterilization amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Nearly 900,00 pilgrims, most of whom come from outside Saudi Arabia, are reported to have performed the Hajj pilgrimage this year after the Kingdom relaxed curbs against the COVID-19 pandemic that prompted local authorities to limit the rites to only thousands of domestic pilgrims for the last two years.
