JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA – Hajj pilgrims returning to their countries can now take Zamzam water on board international flights, according to King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) of Jeddah.

In accordance with KAIA guidelines, pilgrims can purchase only one five-liter Zamzam water bottle at one of the airport’s points of sale. Zamzam water is not permitted to be carried within checked baggage, and the airport authorities have allocated a separate path for the water.

Also, the airport is preparing to broadcast many educational and awareness messages through all media platforms to reach pilgrims at their residences in Makkah in the coming phase. As part of this initiative, KAIA hopes to provide pilgrims with all the necessary baggage handling and shipment information.

It has been announced that information will be published in newspapers, e-newspapers, and social media platforms, as well as via text messages regarding baggage shipment and awareness messages regarding Zamzam water shipment. Furthermore, to ensure that all pilgrims from different countries receive the information, the company has also stated that all contents and awareness messages will be translated.

Along with Hajj and summer vacation, Airports Holding Company has launched an awareness campaign on “Your service is our honor” in all Saudi airports, in conjunction with KAIA’s awareness campaign.

KAIA launched an awareness campaign to inform the public about ways to facilitate luggage shipment during the return trip, such as ensuring the bags are not overly heavy or tied with ropes that might disrupt luggage shipment during the return trip.

In cooperation with the government, security, and operational agencies inside the airport, the airport contributes to ensuring smoothness and organizing the work within the airport halls by facilitating the process of transporting and shipping luggage for passengers during the departure phase, as well as accelerating the procedures for grouping pilgrims.

It is banned for international visitors to take ZamZam water.
