  • Taraweeh prayers at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque will consist of 10 Rakats.
  • This will be followed by 3 Rakats of Witr prayer.
  • The format maintains the traditional and widely followed Sunni practice.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has confirmed the format for the nightly Taraweeh prayers during the upcoming Ramadan 1447 AH (2026).

At both the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) in Madinah, the prayer will consist of 10 Rakats (units of prayer).

Following the Taraweeh, worshippers will perform 3 Rakats of Witr prayer. This structure results in a total of five instances of the Tasleem (the closing salutation of peace), concluding with the final Witr prayer.

This confirmation maintains the traditional and predominant practice observed at the Two Holy Mosques.

Taraweeh is consistently broadcast globally.

The Presidency typically releases the full schedule, including timings and the roster of leading Imams, closer to the start of Ramadan.
