The Saudi Ministry of Health (MoH) has emphasized the importance of receiving the meningitis vaccine for those planning to perform Umrah during Ramadan.

The directive calls for travelers to obtain the vaccine at least ten days in advance of their journey, ensuring that they build up the necessary immunity well before arriving at their destination.

  • Needs to be administered 10 days before performing Umrah.

The ministry emphasized that individuals vaccinated within the past five years are exempt from revaccination, as the protective effects of the shot remain effective during this period.

Since meningitis is transmitted via respiratory droplets from actions such as coughing and sneezing, strict preventive measures are essential to curb its spread.

Pilgrims are encouraged to secure their appointments through the Sehhaty application at designated adult vaccination clinics.
