The latest remarks came from Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, who was shot by assailants during a demonstration in Zafar Ali Khan, Wazirabad, on Thursday 3 November.
A day after surviving the assassination attempt, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his gratitude to Allah SWT for saving his life.
In a televised speech from his wheelchair at Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore, he expressed gratitude and thanks to Allah SWT for saving him and giving him the chance to live again.
The former Prime Minister of Pakistan who now leads the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) – Pakistan Justice Movement stressed that the long march will continue after he has fully recovered.
It is reported that Khan, who is currently still in treatment after the assassination attempt on him, also said that he was ready to fight anyone who wanted his death.
As a result of his gunshot wounds, Khan is currently being treated at Shaukat Khanun Hospital in Lahore and is being treated by a medical team led by former health minister Dr Faisal Sultan. According to the hospital’s main source, Khan is not expected to be able to walk for the next three weeks.
Dr Faisal Sultan who was asked by Khan to explain his state of health after the shooting to the public, showing Khan’s X-ray report on screen highlighting details of the injuries suffered by the party leader including fractures.
Khan, who suspected government officials were behind the attack, said that he knew they (his attackers) wanted to kill him but what they didn’t know was that Allah was protecting him.
The 70-year-old former cricket star claims he knew about the danger ahead of him that there was a plot to kill him somewhere between Wazirabad and Gujrat.
Apart from Khan, Thursday’s shooting also left one person dead and more than 15 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party workers injured, including former Sindh governors Imran Ismail and Faisal Javed. The shooting significantly escalated the political crisis that has gripped Pakistan since Khan’s overthrow in April 2022.
