The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is bracing for a period of significant rainfall in the coming days, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

Moderate to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms are predicted across the country, with the inclement weather expected to persist until Monday.

Regional Forecast:

  • Thursday: Rain is forecasted in southern and northwestern areas.
  • Friday: Rainfall is expected in both northern and southern regions.
  • Saturday & Sunday: The Saudi capital region, including Riyadh, is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

The Makkah region is of particular concern, with forecasts predicting moderate to heavy rainfall, potential hailstorms, and strong winds that could stir up dust.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a weather warning for most parts of the Kingdom, urging residents to exercise caution.

Safety Precautions:

  • Avoid Flood-Prone Areas: Residents are advised to stay away from low-lying areas, water pools, and deep valleys, which are susceptible to flash flooding.
  • Stay Informed: The public is encouraged to stay updated on the latest weather information through official Civil Defense channels and the NCM.

In anticipation of the upcoming holy months of Ramadan and Hajj, the NCM has initiated training programs for employees of the Presidency for Religious Affairs at the Two Holy Mosques.
