Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) led management has declared an end to holidays for Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Jummat-ul-Wida, and 15 other communal holidays, BBC Urdu reported.
The declaration was made on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Twitter story on Tuesday.
Also the above-mentioned holidays, days off to celebrate the birth of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, Chandar Shekhar, and Chaudhry Charan Singh has also been terminated.
“On the anniversaries of great personalities, educational institutions should form get-togethers of at least an hour long notifying students of their personality, accomplishments and motivational pearls of wisdom,” the Chief Minister’s office acknowledged in a series of tweets.
It is significant to note that CM Yogi Adityanath had before implied at eliminating holidays for celebrating the anniversaries of personalities.
“If the tenacity of these holidays is to recall the great personalities and to motivate public, then why don’t we open schools for two hours on such events and notify the children who these great individuals are?”, he asked an audience while talking at an occasion to celebrate the birthday of the Indian constitution’s architect.
A great bulk of the holidays void by Yogi Adityanath’s government were applied by the former Akhilesh Yadav government.
Presently, there are 42 community holidays in UP, out of which 17 celebrate the birthdays of famous personalities.
