Neha Swami Bijlani, wife of Indian television actor Arjun Bijlani, faced heavy criticism after photos and videos of her in a grey T-shirt spread online between 12 and 14 October 2026.
The shirt showed a cartoon character identified as Mickey Mouse next to Arabic writing of sacred Islamic names.
What She Wore
Neha wore the shirt to a birthday party in Mumbai for the son of actors Kunal Verma and Puja Banerjee, according to reports. The writing on it spelled out Allah, Rasool and Muhammad in Arabic.

Allah is the Arabic word for God. Rasool means messenger, and here it refers to the Messenger of Allah. Muhammad refers to Prophet Muhammad ï·º.
Why Muslims Called It Insulting
Some Muslims and other social media users objected to sacred names printed on casual clothing beside a cartoon. Their concern was that a shirt can be worn, washed and handled in ways many Muslims consider disrespectful. They said names like these should be treated with care.

Nothing in the information available shows that Neha meant to insult Islam. The offence comes from how critics saw the design.
Couple Respond on 14 October
On 14 October 2026, Arjun Bijlani posted a statement on social media, including Instagram Stories. He said a fan gave them the T-shirt at a shopping mall in Bangkok.
The couple said Neha did not know the meaning or religious importance of the writing when she wore it. They said they never meant to hurt or offend any religion or community, and that they respect all faiths.
Their statement included these lines:
“We sincerely apologise.”
“Neha was completely unaware of the meaning and significance of the writing on the T-shirt when she wore it.”
“There was absolutely no intention to hurt, disrespect or offend the religious sentiments of any individual or community.”
“We are sorry for what happened unintentionally and we will always be careful in future with regards to the gifts received.”
