Key Takeaways
- Careem Bike stations are located near every gate of Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque), with rentals managed through the Careem app
- Passes cost 29 SAR for one day or 39 SAR for three days, but each ride must end within 30 minutes to avoid extra charges
- Pilgrims can reach sites including Masjid Quba, Masjid al-Qiblatain, and Sayyid al-Shuhada (Uhud) using the bike network
Madinah’s historic sites are spread across the city, and while many pilgrims walk or take the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus, Careem Bike offers a third option. The service lets you pick up an e-bike near Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) and ride to mosques, historic landmarks, and other locations at your own pace.
How to Get Started
Bikes are available near almost every gate of Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque). To rent one, download the Careem app, choose a pass, scan the QR code on the bike, and check the battery level before setting off.
Two passes are available:
| Pass | Price | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| One Day Pass | 29 SAR | 1 day |
| 3-Day Ziyarah Pass | 39 SAR | 3 days |
The 30-Minute Rule
The daily pass does not mean you keep the same bike all day. Each ride must be returned to a docking station within 30 minutes. If you go over that limit without ending the trip, additional charges are deducted automatically from your account.
Once you dock the bike, you can unlock another one straight away and continue your journey. A timer in the app tracks your active ride time.
Where You Can Go
The Careem Bike network covers a wide range of sites across Madinah. Locations accessible by bike include:
- Masjid Quba
- Masjid al-Jumuah
- Masjid al-Ghamamah
- Masjid Abu Bakr
- Masjid Bilal
- Masjid Ali
- Masjid al-Qiblatain
- The Seven Mosques
- Sayyid al-Shuhada (Uhud)
Additional destinations are marked on the map inside the Careem app.
