Pakistan Sets Hajj 2027 Costs at Rs. 1.2–1.3 Million

Long and short Hajj packages carry different prices as Pakistan shifts the entire Hajj process onto the Pak Hajj app.

The 40-42 day package costs Rs. 1.2 million, while the 20-22 day short package costs Rs. 1.3 million.
Habib Bank Islamic is the ministry’s authorized banking partner, with an agreement signing set for Monday.
Around 400,000 registered pilgrims are moving through the application process, with 30,000 seats set aside for the short package.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf laid out the Hajj 2027 costs and process at a press conference in Islamabad, where he said applications, payments and other parts of Hajj are moving online through the Pak Hajj app.

Payment Schedule and Package Details

Pilgrims will pay their first installment starting August 17, with the second installment due in the second week of October.

The government scheme has set aside 30,000 seats for the short Hajj package.

Around 400,000 registered pilgrims are currently going through the application process, and those who cannot perform Hajj in 2027 will be placed on the waiting list for the following year.

Habib Bank Named Banking Partner

Habib Bank has been selected as the ministry’s authorized banking partner for collecting Hajj payments, with the agreement between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Habib Bank Islamic set to be signed on Monday.

Asked why only Habib Bank was chosen, Yousuf said the ministry invited all banks to take part, and banks applied for the role, but only Habib Bank met the required conditions, particularly around digital payments.

Pilgrims under the private Hajj scheme will also pay through the Pak Hajj app. Yousuf said Hajj-related financial transactions will not go through any other method, while private pilgrims can choose their own service provider from the approved online companies.

Digital Banking Reach

Habib Bank Islamic head Asad Khan said 99 percent of the bank’s branches nationwide will offer digital payment facilities, and pilgrims can also pay by credit and debit card.

Khan said Habib Bank has more than 1,700 branches across the country and has connected 80 percent of its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa branches to Islamic banking services, with Islamic banking now expanding across its branches in Balochistan.

He said the bank will not charge pilgrims for Hajj payments under its Islamic banking arrangement.
