Dr. Mohammed Altawalbeh, spokesperson for Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, confirmed the death of pilgrim Ziad Mohammed Al-Kilani. The 73-year-old was in Makkah preparing to carry out Hajj duties alongside his wife as part of Jordan’s 2026 Hajj delegation.
The spokesperson said the pilgrim had earlier visited the delegation’s medical team for an initial check-up. The team referred him to a hospital in Makkah for further tests. He later died at that hospital.
The ministry has contacted the family in Amman to complete the necessary paperwork. Jordanian officials are coordinating with Saudi authorities and the Jordanian Hajj delegation is following the matter closely.
