Police have registered a formal case against model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah for recording a video inside Lahore’s historic Wazir Khan Mosque without official permission.
The First Information Report (FIR), filed at Akbari Gate Police Station on August 17, accuses the pair of disrespecting the sacred space through “inappropriate attire” and unsanctioned commercial activity.

Muhammad Owais, an official with the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), lodged the complaint after discovering the August 13 incident.
“The model filmed wearing unsuitable clothing and without prior approval,” he stated, emphasizing the need to preserve the mosque’s sanctity.
Police sources confirm efforts to locate and detain the suspects, though their contact details remain unverified.
The mosque administration expressed strong displeasure, prompting legal action. Dr. Tahir Raza Bukhari, Secretary of Auqaf, confirmed the FIR and ongoing investigation.
This case echoes a 2020 controversy involving actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed, who faced similar charges for a music video filmed at the same site.
Wazir Khan Mosque, a 17th-century Mughal monument on UNESCO’s Tentative World Heritage List, is renowned for its intricate tile work and frescoes. Recent restoration efforts involve international cultural agencies.
