MAKKAH – According to sources familiar with the matter, at least three Yemeni and two Nigerian pilgrims lost their lives during Hajj 2022.
According to the sources, a Yemeni pilgrim died in a traffic accident in Mecca on Thursday, and another died while he was performing Tawaf rituals in Mecca.
A Yemeni pilgrim woman was admitted into an intensive care unit at a hospital on Wednesday, but she passed away due to a health crisis she suffered.
Hasiya Aminu, a pilgrim from Kaduna state, was confirmed dead by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
According to her neighbors in the tent, she died in her sleep after returning from Mount Arafat.
The Nigerian Medical Mission’s Chief of Operations and Head, Dr. Usman Galadima, said that no cause of her death has been determined.
She will be buried according to Islamic rites by her family, he said.
In the 2022 Hajj operations, Ms. Aminu is the second Nigerian pilgrim who has died.
Last week, Aisha Ahmed from Keffi in Nasarawa state passed away after a brief illness and was buried in Makkah.
