Makkah, Saudi Arabia — The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that Sheikh Sudais, the president of the two Holy Mosques, will lead the Eid al-Fitr 2025 prayer at Islam’s holiest site.
Sheikh Sudais, known for his profound Quranic recitations and inspiring sermons, is a revered figure in the Islamic world.
The Eid prayer at Masjid Al Haram draws millions of worshipers from across the globe. Live broadcast will allow Muslims worldwide to participate virtually.
This marks the first time in his 40 years of career that Sheikh Sudais will lead the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Grand Mosque.
Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al‑Sudais has devoted his life to Islamic scholarship and the art of Quranic recitation.
A proud graduate of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, he earned advanced degrees in Islamic studies that laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to serving the Muslim community.
ince his appointment in the mid‑1980s as one of the chief Imams at Masjid Al Haram in Mecca, Sheikh Al‑Sudais has become renowned for his powerful sermons and soul-stirring recitations, which resonate with millions of worshipers worldwide.
Eid al-Fitr 2025 is on 30th March 2025, depending on the sighting of the moon, and signifies the start of Shawwal.
Eid al-Fitr, also known as the “feast of breaking the fast”, is a three-day celebration filled with rest, good tidings, and acts of worship. Muslims are encouraged to pray, wear their best clothes, share gifts, and make du’a during this festive time. Zakat ul-Fitr, a donation of food, is also given before the Eid prayer.
