The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now perform Umrah at any time throughout the year.

This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency and ease of pilgrimage to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, ensuring a smoother experience for pilgrims.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the ministry highlighted several ways for pilgrims to obtain Umrah visas:

  • Nusuk Platform: Pilgrims can book Umrah packages through Nusuk, the Kingdom’s official digital gateway for pilgrimage services.
  • Visa Centers: Individuals should apply for Umrah visas through authorized visa centers.
  • Transit Visas: Travelers flying with Saudia Airlines or Flynas can secure a transit visa, allowing them to perform Umrah during their stopovers.
  • Tourism Visas: The electronic platform also provides an option for tourism visas, enabling visitors to perform Umrah and explore holy sites across Saudi Arabia.

The ministry further emphasized that all visitors to the Grand Mosque must obtain an Umrah permit via the Nusuk app to ensure a safe and organized pilgrimage.

Umrah, a pilgrimage to Islam’s holiest sites, can be undertaken year-round, unlike the Hajj, which is performed annually during a specific Islamic month.
