The Holy Kaaba inside Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah was ceremonially washed in the annual Ghusl al-Kaaba on Tuesday, 30 June 2026 — 15 Muharram 1448 AH — beginning after Fajr prayers.

Acting on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, led the washing.

The ritual took place across three stages, each using specific quantities of water, oils, and fragrances prepared for the occasion.

Stage 1 — Preparation

Technical setups were completed and the washing mixture was prepared. The lower section of the door curtain was raised to protect the Kiswah and allow entry. The preparation stage used 20 litres of Zamzam water and 80 ml of special oud oil.

Stage 2 — Washing

The interior walls, pillars, and floor were washed using special cloths soaked in a mixture of Zamzam water and Taif rose water. The quantities used were:
