10-year-old Malaysian boy Ahmad Ziyyad Mohd Zahir from Terengganu has memorized the entire Quran in just four months and ten days.
Diagnosed with autism at age seven, the young hafiz completed his memorization on March 23 through a special program at Akademi al-Quran Amalillah in Marang.
His journey began in infancy when his mother, Nurul Shahida Lukman, noticed his unique connection to Quranic recitations.
“At eight months old, he would cry if I missed a verse during bedtime recitations,” she recalled. By age two, he had memorized 42 verses simply by listening.
The family temporarily relocated from Kota Bharu to Marang last year to enroll Ahmad Ziyyad in the intensive program. His teacher, Nurfatihar Riduan, noted his exceptional ability to memorize a page in 15–30 minutes, sometimes completing entire chapters daily.
Beyond his academic achievement, his parents observe profound personal growth.
“He now prays on time without reminder and shows emotional maturity,” said Nurul Shahida.
The boy’s hyperlexia and hypernumeracy – common autism spectrum traits – contributed to his success.
Ahmad Ziyyad has since returned to his Islamic integrated school, where he continues to inspire peers and teachers alike with his accomplishment.
