Sheikh Ahmad Hudhaify, the esteemed Imam of Masjid Nabawi in Madinah, arrived in Indonesia on Monday night (October 7, 2024) at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten.
His arrival at 22:34 WIB was warmly received by officials from the Saudi Arabian Embassy, Indonesia’s Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), and prominent Islamic organizations including Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and others.
Leading Friday (Jummah) Prayer at Istiqlal Mosque
A highlight of his visit will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, when Sheikh Ahmad Hudhaify will lead the Friday prayer and deliver the sermon at Indonesia’s largest mosque, the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta.
Upon arrival, Sheikh Hudhaify expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the strong bond between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
He traveled to Jakarta in a vehicle provided by the Saudi Arabian Embassy, where he will meet with key figures in Indonesia’s religious and political spheres.
On Tuesday (October 8), Sheikh Hudhaify met with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at the State Palace in Jakarta.
His visit includes scheduled meetings with leaders from MUI, Islamic boarding schools, and other religious organizations to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen ties between the two countries.
