Denmark: An international study has revealed that children’s plastic toys use harmful chemicals that can cause cancer.
An article published in the leading medical journal Science Direct has revealed that more than 100 harmful chemicals have been found in children’s plastic toys that can be very harmful to children’s health.
The study found 419 hard, soft, and foamy chemicals used in children’s plastic toys, 126 of which identified substances that could harm children’s health through cancer or non-cancer impact.
A researcher at the University of Denmark, Dr Peter Fantke said the harmful chemicals included 31 plasticizers, 18 flame retardants, and eight harmful perfume chemicals.
The research suggests that plastic toys must be labelled with chemicals used in their manufacture and an organization such as the Food Safety Monitor, which seeks to prevent the use of harmful chemicals in plastic products.
