Visitors to Masjid Al Nabawi in Madinah should take note of the updated timings for the opening of the iconic umbrellas in the mosque’s central zone, also known as the Haswatain.
These umbrellas provide shade and enhance the comfort of worshipers, are operated at specific times to correspond with the day’s key prayers.
Morning Opening
- After Fajr Salah.
The umbrellas open after Fajr Salah, but worshipers should be prepared to wait until shortly before sunrise for them to unfold completely.
Evening Closing
- After Maghrib Salah.
In the evenings, the umbrellas open following Maghrib Salah. However, visitors should expect a short delay of approximately 10 minutes after the Janazah (funeral) prayers before the umbrellas are fully operational.
With the region’s intense heat during the day, their timely operation offers relief and enhances the spiritual experience for worshipers.
By being aware of the opening timings—after Fajr near sunrise and after Maghrib, around 10 minutes post-Janazah prayers—visitors can better plan their worship and ensure their comfort.
