Salat ul Kusoof is offered during the Solar eclipse.
A solar eclipse is a celestial event. It occurs when the moon blocks the sun. It is a sign of Allah’s anger. Muslims are advised to turn to Allah in times of solar eclipse.
The Holy Prophet peace be upon him has clearly stated has nothing to do with someone’s death or birth.
He instructed the believers to pray and turn to Allah in supplication as the eclipse occurs.
Salat ul Kusoof is a prayer performed during a solar eclipse. It has highly been recommended.
Step-by-Step Guide to Offer Salat ul Kusoof
- Start your prayer by making an intention to perform Salat ul Kusoof as you face the Qiblah. Proceed with saying Takbirat al Ihram that is “Allahu Akbar“.
- Continue the prayer by reciting Surah Al-Fatiha. After this recite any long Surah from the Quran.
- Go into the bowing position (Ruku) and say “Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem” three times. Keep yourself in a bowing position for some time.
- Stand up from ruku in the position of Qiyam. Again recite Surah Al-Fatiha followed by another long Surah. Make sure that the Surah this time is shorter than the previous one.
- Perform the Second Ruku but shorter than the first one.
- Go into the position of prostration (Sujood) and recite “Subhana Rabbiyal A’la” three times.
- Stand up for the second Rak’ah. Repeat steps 3-7 for this Rak’ah too.
- After the Sujood in the second Rak’ah sit for Tashahhud. You can now conclude your prayer with Tasleem. Turn you face to each side once and say “Assalam o Alaikum warahmatullah“.
After completing the prayer it is recommended to pray to Allah for forgiveness. Thank Allah for everything.
It is important to note that solar eclipse is a sign of Allah. Thus one should engage in prayer and recite the Quran until the eclipse is over.
