Born in Madinah in 1969, Sheikh Maher bin Hamad Al Muaiqly initially pursued a completely different field before answering his calling to Islamic scholarship.

He earned a Master’s degree in Hanbali Fiqh from Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah, followed by a Doctorate in Shafi’i Fiqh from the same institution.
However, his passion for Islamic studies led him to undertake an extraordinary academic shift.
He eventually earned not one but two doctoral degrees in Islamic sciences, making him one of the few scholars with dual doctorates in different Islamic disciplines.

He began his professional life as a mathematics teacher after completing his education at the Teachers’ College in Madinah.
Since 2007, Sheikh Al Muaiqly has served as an Imam at Masjid al-Haram, where his recitation style has gained international recognition.
Alongside his duties at the Haram, he maintains an academic position as Vice Dean for Graduate Studies at Umm Al-Qura University, where he oversees advanced Islamic studies programs and mentors future scholars.
