Who Must Perform Hajj and Who Should Not?

Hajj becomes obligatory (farḍ) for every Muslim who meets specific criteria: faith (īmān), adulthood, sanity, physical health, financial means, and lawful passage. Those lacking any of these conditions—minors, the ill, the impoverished, non-Muslims—are exempt.
