During the recent launch of Hajj 1446 operations, the Presidency for Religious Affairs announced a lineup of 10 Imams currently serving at Masjid An Nabawi in Madinah.

Notably absent from this list was Sheikh Ahmed bin Talib Hameed, a long-time Imam and Khateeb of the revered mosque.

While the Presidency did not formally comment on the change—consistent with its usual policy—his exclusion has drawn attention.

Though no official explanation was provided, it is common for such changes to occur due to internal scheduling, rotation of duties, or personal circumstances such as health or family commitments.

Updated List of Masjid An Nabawi Imams (1446 AH):

  1. Sheikh Abdul Mohsin Al Qasim
  2. Sheikh Khalid Muhanna
  3. Sheikh Abdullah Al Buayjan
  4. Sheikh Ahmad Hudaify
  5. Sheikh Salah Al Budair
  6. Sheikh Muhammad Barhaji
  7. Sheikh Ali Hudaify
  8. Sheikh Abdullah Al Qurafi
  9. Sheikh Hussain Ale Sheikh
  10. Sheikh Abdul Bari Thubaity

Sheikh Ahmed’s absence comes quietly, with no formal retirement or reassignment notice issued. His contributions to the mosque, particularly his distinct delivery and deep scholarship, have been widely appreciated by worshipers over the years.

Future updates regarding any potential return or new role for Sheikh Ahmed may emerge through official channels or public observances during the Hajj season.
