MECCA, SAUDI ARABIA — Chad’s Mohammad Adam Mohamed has been crowned the overall winner of the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran, receiving a grand prize of 500,000 Saudi Riyals.
The prestigious event, held under the patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, featured participants from across the Islamic world competing in five categories of Quranic recitation and memorization.

The competition concluded with a distinguished ceremony honoring winners from multiple nations. Saudi Arabia’s Anas bin Majid Al Hazmi secured second place with a prize of 450,000 SAR, while Nigeria’s S Bukhari Idrees claimed third place with 400,000 SAR.
Other top winners included Saudi Arabia’s Mansoor Al Harbi (fourth place, 300,000 SAR) and Yemen’s Mohamed Shoye (fifth place, 275,000 SAR).




The annual competition, which attracted the world’s most skilled Quran reciters, featured rigorous evaluation criteria including memorization accuracy, recitation technique (tajweed), melodic proficiency, and interpretive knowledge.
A panel of internationally recognized judges assessed participants through multiple elimination rounds.
The total prize pool of 4 million Saudi Riyals represents a great increase from previous years. The event was broadcast globally, reaching millions of viewers.
