During Hajj 1446H (2025) a female pilgrim from Togo gave birth while at the sacred site of Mount Arafat on Thursday. The mother and her newborn were reported to be in good health, following prompt care from medical teams stationed on site.
The delivery was supervised by a specialized healthcare team and took place safely amid the spiritual atmosphere of Arafat. It marked the first confirmed birth during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
The woman was one of 2,443 international pilgrims from 100 countries hosted under the Guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Program for Hajj, Umrah, and Visitation, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.
Pilgrims in the program had settled into their accommodations at Arafat with comfort and support, benefiting from integrated services, including 24/7 medical care. The ministry had mobilized all available resources in coordination with other government agencies to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Hajj for their guests.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed the safe transfer of over 1.67 million pilgrims to Mount Arafat without any security or health incidents. The movement from Makkah and Mina to Arafat was conducted with high-level coordination via a Joint Operations and Dispatching Centre, which linked key regulatory and service agencies in real time.
