To upgrade facilities ahead of Hajj 1446/2025, Saudi authorities have installed over 300 large umbrellas and planted more than 2,000 trees around Namirah Mosque at the base of Mount Arafat.

These enhancements will provide additional shade and a cooler environment for pilgrims performing the essential midday prayer during the Hajj rituals.

The umbrellas, strategically placed around the mosque’s courtyard and walkways, will offer immediate relief from the intense sun, while the newly planted trees are expected to mature into natural shading over time.

The landscaping initiative also includes irrigation upgrades to ensure the health and growth of the young trees in the region’s arid climate.

Officials from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that these improvements form part of a larger program to enhance pilgrim comfort and safety across all key Hajj sites.

With temperatures in the area often exceeding 40°C (104°F) during peak pilgrimage days, the added shade structures and greenery are critical for reducing heat-related strain.

Pilgrims visiting Namirah Mosque can now enjoy both immediate and long-term cooling solutions.
