In preparation for Ramadan 1446H (2025), Saudi authorities have begun laying new carpets across the expansive roof of Masjid Al Haram in Mecca, ensuring ample and comfortable prayer spaces for the millions expected to attend Taraweeh prayers.

The roof of the Grand Mosque, which has been transformed into a vast prayer area through years of expansion, now features high-quality, intricately designed carpets tailored to withstand heavy foot traffic while maintaining a serene ambiance.

The new carpets, covering over 100,000 square meters, are part of a meticulous effort to ensure worshipers can perform prayers in comfort and tranquility.

The roof’s prayer area, accessible via escalators and elevators, is particularly critical during Ramadan, when nightly Taraweeh prayers draw unprecedented crowds.

Ramadan 2025, expected to begin in starting March, will see Masjid Al Haram welcoming millions of pilgrims and local worshipers.

Maintenance teams will work around the clock during Ramadan to uphold cleanliness and order across all prayer areas.
