On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, delivered a profound lecture at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
Addressing worshippers, Sheikh Sudais highlighted the etiquette and responsibilities of visiting the Prophet’s Mosque.
Sending Blessings Upon the Prophet
Sheikh Sudais began by emphasizing the importance of sending blessings and peace upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Quoting hadiths, he explained;
“Sending blessings upon the Prophet is not just a ritual; it connects us spiritually and reinforces our love for the Messenger of Allah,”
Tawheed and Avoiding Innovations
The Sheikh reminded Muslims to safeguard its sanctity by avoiding any form of polytheism or religious innovations that deviate from the Quran and Sunnah.
“This sacred mosque is a symbol of pure faith. We must approach it with reverence, ensuring our actions reflect the essence of Islam,” he said.
Learning and Applying Sunnah
Sheikh Sudais called on Muslims to learn and apply the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He described the Sunnah as a perfect guide to righteous living and encouraged its application in daily life.
“Learning and living by the Sunnah not only strengthens our faith but also helps us navigate the challenges of life with wisdom and balance,” he explained.
Honoring the Companions
In his concluding remarks, Sheikh Sudais stressed the importance of honoring the companions of the Prophet, particularly the four rightly-guided caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them). He encouraged the audience to study their lives and emulate their steadfast adherence to the teachings of Islam.
