As part of its ongoing digital transformation to better serve pilgrims, Saudi Arabia has introduced a new system allowing international Hajj pilgrims to activate eSIM cards directly via telecom providers’ mobile apps—eliminating the need to visit stores or wait until reaching their hotels.
The initiative, led by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and licensed telecom operators, ensures that pilgrims can stay connected from the moment they land in the Kingdom.
Pilgrims can now request an eSIM from Saudi providers even before traveling. Upon arrival, verification is completed through facial biometrics on the government’s digital platform “Absher” enabling full activation remotely and securely.
