Woman Gives Birth In Masjid an-Nabawi

A Saudi Red Crescent volunteer working in the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah recently delivered a baby when one of the women worshippers developed labor pains in the mosque’s courtyard.

Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority’s Madinah branch, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani, said the SRCA volunteer team attached to the ambulance center on the Al-Haram premises assisted the woman in safely delivering her baby.

When the teams arrived at the scene, Dr. Al-Zahrani noted that the woman was about to give birth and was in critical condition.

It was evident that the woman was in labor as she was experiencing contractions. According to the SRCA team, her water had broken, and the baby’s head had already emerged.

In this situation, the team immediately sprang into action, adhering strictly to the protocols in such cases, and began assisting the woman in giving birth. A health practitioner on site offered support.

Upon delivery of the baby, the mother and child were transferred to the Bab Jibril Health Center for follow-up checks, according to Dr. Al-Zahrani, who explained that such cases require intensive medical attention.

Due to their specialized medical training as health professionals, the team could deliver the baby safely.

According to Dr. Al-Zahrani, calling 997 should be used in an emergency to alert the ambulance service. The ambulance team will be able to accurately determine the caller’s location, thereby saving time and effort in reaching the site and providing assistance, he added. The ambulance service can also be contacted through the Asafny application or the Tawakkalna application’s SOS function.
