Police are still looking for the perpetrators of a gun attack on a mother and her two children outside a mosque in Midrand a week ago.
As a result of gunshot wounds to the head and chest sustained by the 41-year-old mother, she underwent a life-saving operation and is now recovering in a hospital.
Moments after the attack, her nine-year-old son died, while her 14-year-old daughter survived.
According to Shawn Herbst from Netcare 911, the mother is recovering in a general ward in the hospital.
As a result of the incident, the boy died from his injuries at a nearby clinic, and his mother was airlifted to a hospital.
A search was launched immediately following the incident for the suspects.
According to police, two men shot at the mother’s children as she picked them up from school, then sped away.
According to Masondo, the police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.
