The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a royal order extending the service of Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Governor of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for a period of four years.
Who Is Prince Khalid Al-Faisal
Prince Khalid Al-Faisal is the third son of the late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He was born in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 1940.
His earlier posts include Governor of Asir Province from 1971 to 2007, Governor of Makkah Al-Mukarramah from 2007 to 2013, and Minister of Education from 2013 to 2015.
He returned to the Makkah governorship on 29 January 2015 and has held the post since.
His Role in Makkah and Hajj Affairs
Makkah Al-Mukarramah is home to Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque), Islam’s holiest site, and the destination for millions of pilgrims each year.
Prince Khalid also serves as Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee, the body that oversees Hajj arrangements across the province.
