A celebration of Ramadan was held in the Long Room at Lord’s Cricket Ground, known as the home of cricket.
Tameena Hussain, who runs the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) IT Helpdesk, organized the event.
This is an image I created of the Long Room at Lord’s, where cricket is played. We were in the Long Room, he said.
The event included an evening prayer call, or azaan, led by a Muazzin. ECB tweeted video of the Muazzin calling Azaan from the Long Room.
“As soon as I offered the call to prayer, I knew the place was historical. Hassen Rasool, the priest who recited the Azaan, said, “I felt everyone was on the same page as humanity should be.”
Some cricketers were present at the event, including Eoin Morgan, the current England limited overs captain, Graham Gooch, and Lydia Greenway and Tammy Beaumont.
As well as Lord’s, Edgbaston hosted an iftar by local cricketers, coaches, and club staff before the match.
