The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and The Ministry of Labor of Saudi Arabia has made a formal announcement that the foreign imams and Muezzins will be replaced by Saudis at commercial complexes’ prayer halls.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs also mentioned that most non-Saudis call to the prayer (Adhan) and leading prayers (Salah) at areas with a high number of commercial complexes and malls. Therefore, non-Saudis will be replaced by Saudis.

The ministry has also directed the commercial complexes and malls to comply with the laws of the ministry.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia also coordinated with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs to contact agencies to start appointing Saudi imams and muezzin in malls and commercial complexes.

  1. This has been happening in all countries of the Middle East. There is nothing wrong in replacing expatriates with their own citizens
