Preparations for I’tikaaf have begun at Masjid an-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Madinah. Tents will no longer be used for I’tikaaf from now on, construction workers at the site told The Islamic Information.
The workers said a permanent arrangement is being put in place. The mosque will no longer need to put up tents and take them down each time.
They said the aim is to revive the way I’tikaaf is performed in the mosque.
Work Visible Around the Mosque
Photos taken at the site show white barriers around part of the building. They carry the mosque’s logo and the words “Work in progress, thank you for your cooperation.”

Tower cranes stand above the work area. On the roof level, workers are placing a Samsung outdoor air-conditioning unit inside a steel frame while another worker welds nearby.
Cables run through a gap in the carved stone band below the roofline.
